The Eastbourne Winter Night Shelter
Objectives for the Eastbourne Winter Night Shelter
This new facility, provided by several Eastbourne churches cooperating together, offers supervised overnight accommodation to homeless and vulnerable people who would otherwise be rough sleeping during the extreme winter months (December – February inclusive), on the streets of Eastbourne.
A registration system will be in operation so that the guests will be referred from FatFleshed Ministries or the Matthew 25 Mission project to the Salvation Army drop in centre, who will keep the master referral list. It will not be practicable to accept people who just turn up unannounced.
What kind of shelter?
We aim to provide a warm, safe and friendly environment between the hours of 7pm (Doors open) and 8:00am (Guests depart) This will involve mealtimes at evening and breakfast and a period of interacting with the guests during the evening. We expect to engage in a variety of activities, including games, dvds, quiz's, singing and discussions. You may have a suggestion/idea to offer here…
That's the basic idea. Use the Find Out More links in the left column to find out how you and your church can be a part of this ministry of compassion.
